Councillor Mantwa Kasale of Ward 09 commemorates the 2023 Nelson Mandela Month with the elderly members of community

As a build-up activity towards commemoration of the 2023 Nelson Mandela Day, the 67 minutes in remembrance of uTata Nelson Mandela’s service to the public that is remembered annually on July 18th, Councillor Mantwa Kasale (Ward 09), who is also a Member of the Mayoral Committee responsible for the Directorate Community Services, donated over 150 Blankets to elderly members of community. The activity was held on Sunday, 16 July 2023 at Boitshoko High School.

Alderman Barei Mosiane-Segotso, a former Executive Mayor of the Dr. Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality, and Councillor Kenewang Ruddy Manja for Ward 27 in the JB Marks Local Municipality were amongst dignitaries present at the commemoration of the 2023 Nelson Mandela Month.

Councillor Mantwa Kasale emphasized that, the 2023 Nelson Mandela Day was scheduled to be commemorated with senior citizens in Ward 09 as important activities such as Youth and Women’s Day have frequently been remembered without taking into account, those who matter most to the societies. “We must take care of our senior citizens in order for us to benefit from their knowledge and experience,” continued Councillor Kasale.

Alderman Barei Mosiane-Segotso, a former Executive Mayor of the Dr. Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality, also spoke at the event and praised uTata Nelson Mandela for his fortitude, candor, and most importantly, humility. She continued by saying that the nation requires wisdom along the lines of uTata Nelson Mandela, particularly in light of the crucial role he played in enabling people to experience freedom and benefits that were formerly inaccessible to black South Africans.
